ASUS announces the new ProArt PQ22UC monitor

ProArt PQ22UC

ASUS announces the availability of ProArt PQ22UC, a monitor expressly addressed to photographers, video editors and all professionals and creatives involved in the creation of “color critical” content. Thanks to the 21.6″ OLED panel, 4K UHD resolution (3840 × 2160 pixels) and HDR technology, the new ASUS ProArt PQ22UC ensures superior image quality and fidelity, with surprisingly accurate color reproduction and contrast levels and exceptional detail.

The new ASUS ProArt PQ22UC monitor has been officially unveiled!

The OLED panel consists of billions of independent and self-illuminating RGB pixels and offers a contrast ratio of 1000000:1, reproducing impeccable, incredibly realistic images, with deep blacks and faithful and brilliant colors, with accurate tones even in areas of maximum brightness.

The 4K UHD resolution is associated with a pixel density of up to 204ppi to ensure a wider view up to 300% more than traditional Full HD monitors with the same diagonal, thus ensuring the ability to work on their contents with an incredible level of detail.

ProArt PQ22UC

The response time of only 0.1ms makes ProArt PQ22UC the most responsive monitor on the market, ensuring exceptional performance and absolute fluidity, especially noticeable in the reproduction of videos and animations with faster scenes and actions. The Art PQ22UC exceeds the reference standards for the color reproduction, reaching the coverage of 99% of the DCI-P3 color space, thus qualifying as the ideal tool in all areas related to the production and professional treatment of images.

The factory default calibration ensures color accuracy with Delta-E <2 value, while ASUS ProArt Calibration technology ensures the ability to easily adjust color fidelity and brightness over time. The design of the ProArt PQ22UC, original and compact, provides a base on which to easily install and remove the panel and a smart cover that allows you to work in total mobility, with the widest versatility and practicality.

ProArt PQ22UC is the world’s first 21.6-inch monitor with 4K UHD OLED panel (3840 × 2160 pixels) and HDR support. The density is exceptionally high, equal to a good 204ppi with a wider display area up to 300% more than traditional Full HD monitors with the same diagonal, thus combining incredibly sharp details with an extended color range.

Its billions of self-illuminating RGB pixels can be individually activated to reproduce incredibly realistic images, characterized by deep blacks and increased color contrast in areas with high brightness. By fully developing the advanced performance typical of an OLED panel, ProArt PQ22UC also achieves a very high contrast ratio of 1000000:1. Moreover, thanks to the exclusive ASUS Smart HDR technology, ProArt PQ22UC also supports multiple HDR (High Dynamic Range) formats, including HDR-10, HLG and the brand new Dolby Vision.

Thus HDR-10 ensures compatibility with existing video streams and with a growing list of HDR-enabled games, the HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) standard meets the demands of TV and satellite broadcast formats, including BBC iPlayer and DIRECTV™, while Dolby Vision HDR promises to make the visual experience even more advanced and spectacular.

HDR monitors offer a wider color space than traditional models with a brightness range that reaches values very similar to those perceived by the human eye. The HDR support of the ProArt PQ22UC therefore allows you to view deep blacks and bright whites, as well as a more accurate reproduction of details both in shaded areas and in brighter areas, for a more realistic visual experience.

ASUS ProArt PQ22UC exceeds the reference standards for color reproduction, reaching 99% coverage of the DCI-P3 gamut. Integrates a panel with 10-bit color depth to display 1.07 billion colors, a 14-bit internal lookup table and supports gamma values 2.6, 2.4, 2.2, 2.0 and 1.8 to display images with a natural appearance and a transition soft between the shades.

ProArt PQ22UC has a factory default calibration to ensure the best color accuracy (Delta-E <2). Each monitor has an advanced technology for gray scale management to ensure the highest accuracy in the reproduction of images on the screen. The monitor also ensures a 95% uniformity compensation to limit color and light fluctuations on the panel surface.

Whether a desktop or a notebook, a Mac or a PC, ASUS ProArt Calibration technology offers full control over color accuracy and uniformity compensation, simplifying monitor re-calibration procedures in terms of brightness and color consistency. Users can also choose from a wide variety of pre-defined advanced settings to reach the optimum color accuracy threshold and achieve uniformity compensation on 3 × 3 and 5 × 5 matrices to ensure the best brightness consistency, saving all parameters of the color profiles within the integrated chip that is responsible for managing the gray scale.

The ASUS ProArt Calibration technology is also compatible with the main hardware calibrators, including X-Rite i1 Display Pro and Datacolor Spyder series 5. Thanks to the low weight – equal to about a third of a traditional monitor with a diagonal of 21.6″- and to its super thin profile, ASUS ProArt PQ22UC is able to ensure the widest portability, providing the best opportunity for creative and image professionals to present their projects directly to their customers.

The stand can be detached and folded back up to become totally “flat” so as to facilitate the transport of the monitor which, in this way, can easily be restored in the desktop configuration and return fully operational in a matter of seconds. In addition, the new foldable Smart Case protects the ProArt PQ22UC from scratches and dust during transport. The cover can also be folded on itself offering a practical stand to orient the monitor in a vertical (portrait) or horizontal (landscape) direction.

The new ASUS ProArt PQ22UC also offers a rich set of connections, including a micro HDMI and two USB-C ports, both capable of ensuring power supply, a data transfer rate of 5 GBps and 4K UHD streams, thus enabling connection of any type of external device in a completely simple and fast way.
